Guardians of the galaxy Trailer Analysis

Guardians of the galaxy is a sci-fi film. The beginning of the trailer starts of with dramatic loud music, a lot of trailers start of with slow calming music to begin with but this sets the scene extremely quickly and the music represents the type of film that it is going to be as the music that is played in the background is the type that is stereo typically shown within sci fi films. 

The audience are shown the setting at the beginning of the trailer, this might be to show them a quick over view of what the film is going to be like without actually giving too much away. This scene shows a massive room with the light beaming off either side, this will make the audience wonder where he is and how this is going to be significant throughout the film.  The different camera shots are effective at this part because it gives the audience a really insight on where he is and the different unusual things that are around him. This will make them want to try and guess on where he is and therefore this will make them want to go watch the film to see if they were right on what is going to happen.

The next scene where a lot of unusual looking characters come walking in with guns gives away that this is going to be a comedy film along side sci-fi, this is because the type of dialogue they use, this means that even if people doesn't usually enjoy sci fi types of films this may be one that catches there eye because it is also comedy.

Half way through the trailer we are shown 'Marvel Studios' in bright red colors with positive upbeat music in the background, this is effective because it may persuade the audience more to want to watch the film once they know that marvel has produced it as they are very well known production company and a lot of there films are known to be extremely good.

In the next part, we are introduced to the different characters, this is extremely well presented as it means that we do not get too much information about the story line but we get to know all the characters and there backgrounds before actually watching the film and this afterwards may make the audience want to go and watch it because they already know a little bit about the characters and they may want to see how they end up or if they change throughout the film. This is also good to be shown as some of the characters are animals, and in some cases a tree. Therefore it is good to be introduced before so you know what you are going to watch if you decide to go and watch it.

At 1:21 is another point where we notice that this is going to be a comedy with a hint of rudeness, this is because 'star lord' which is known as the main character is joking around and swearing towards them. This shows that even though the setting and props look all serious, it wont be through the whole film and there will be parts that a lot of people will find funny.

The costumes are very creative throughout the film, along with the skin colors, for example some are green, red etc, this is effective because it shows the viewers that this isn't just a normal bunch of people and there is a story line beforehand how they got where they are. Star lords costume/clothes are just normal everyday clothes, this shows the viewers that he is going to be only full human one compared to the others as they are all different as 'groot' for example does not have a costume at all as he is just a tree.

The master shot towards the end of the trailer shows the audience all of the characters together and then they will get the idea that they are all the main characters and that is who they will be focusing on throughout the whole film.

Towards the end of the trailer, we see star lord which is the main character lock eyes with one of the other female characters and give a quick smile, it was only quick and something very little but this will indicate to the audience that there might be a romance involved in the film and this also means it may people that are interested in sci fi but are in romance might go and see this for the romantic side of it and this is a way to gain more viewers.

At the end of the trailer, the editing gets quicker and fast paced and the music in the background gets faster. This is because the producers want to show you as little as possible so they do not give anything away but at the same time want to show you a fair amount so you get the idea of what type of film it is going to be. This is really effective because the upbeat music sets a positive mood and they get a real insight on what the film is going to be based on, the fast paced editing is effective because it gets there adrenaline running because they only see a little of each part.
