San Andreas Trailer Analysis

San Andreas is an action film about a earthquake that occurs in California. The first thing that we are shown at the beginning of the trailer is the production company, this is very effective to put it at the beginning of the trailer because it lets the audience know who has produced the film, and if it is a good type of production company this might make the audience want to watch it because they love the films that the company makes.

The music at the beginning of the film is very slow and calming, this is because it is at the beginning and therefore they don't want  the audience to be bombarded with all the good dramatic scenes at the very beginning as they want to make them wait a little longer and wait until half way through the trailer for things to become more tense and action packed. At the beginning of the trailer it also shows the setting before the earthquake occurred. This is effective because it shows the audience how calming and peaceful California was before the natural disaster started to happen. This might make the audience wonder how long before was this shot? and was it possible for them to go back to how it looks in this clip after the earthquake happened? At the beginning of the clip the editing is fast paced, the producers have put a black screen with writing between every shot, this is good because they are trying to fit as much in as possible but without over crowding the audience with information.

At 0:30. the clip is shown of a woman and a man making eye contacting and smiling at one another, this could hint towards a romance that may happen in the film and this would make the audience wonder who these are? and wonder if they sacrifice each others life within the earthquake and questions that relate to love as this is what most people would expect to happen stereo typically

Just before we got to half way through the trailer, we see a clip that quotes 'falls apart'and then the music starts to get louder and deeper. This is extremely effective because at this point everybody realizes that all of the action packed footage is about to be shown from then on. This would make the audience very tense as they do not know what is going to happen, and the camera then moves onto a close up shot of a woman and a man driving, this is effective because it gives a clear view on who the film is going to be about and based on along with others however these are going to be the main characters in the film.

Towards the end of the film, they use very effective camera shots which is from the birds eye view. This is good because it gives a clear over view of whats going on within the earthquake but at the same time doesn't give anything away and this means the audience would need to go to the cinema to find out answers to the questions that they have in mind. The main character throughout is shown as the big masculine tough guy that has come across in the trailer that he is the hero, but nobody actually knows who saves who or if anybody dies or survives therefore there are a lot of things that the trailer didnt show and this is good because it will persuade the audience to go and see it. The music in the background throughout the whole film is very good as it sets the negative and positive moods.
